Spotlight - News & Announcements from the Community
Thursday In Old Towne begins April 7th and continues through September 1st. These community events are sponsored by The Petersburg Foundation. All proceeds go to the revitalization and beautification of Petersburg.
Outside band, Hip Pocket begins playing at 7:30p.m. and the inside band, Monkey Fist begins at 9:30p.m. Military discount tickets available. Doors open at 7:00p.m., rain or shine and close at 12:30am.

“Bands of Brothers: The Army’s Musical Heritage”
The sounds of war have always included music; drums and bugles to signal commands and bands to provide inspiration and entertainment. An exhibit, “Bands of Brothers: The Army’s Musical Heritage”, that opened on July 27, 2006 at the U.S. Army Quartermaster Museum, at Fort Lee, outside Petersburg, Virginia honors the contributions of Army musicians and Army bands and relates the history and importance of the use of music in the American Army.

2007 Halifax Jazz & Blues Festival May 12 & 13, 2007 Halifax Triangle, Downtown Petersburg
According to Downtown Petersburg, the First Annual Halifax Jazz & Blues Festival is expected to bring thousands of visitors to Petersburg’s Downtown and its Historic Halifax Triangle area over the festival weekend. The purpose of the event is to celebrate the jazz & blues musical heritage of the Halifax Triangle and to energize the revitalization of the Downtown community.

Our weekend encampment and re-created battles are held at Battersea Plantation. The opportunity to encamp and maneuver on actual ground occupied by British troops in 1781 and participate in a memorial to Major General William Phillips, who was commander of British forces in the battle (and is also buried in Petersburg) are two of the several crowning highlights of this event.
